As a boutique hotel in Napa Valley, we love to welcome visitors seeking their best California Wine Country vacation. Our guests' parties come in every shape and size – couples on their honeymoon, girls' getaway weekends, family reunions, and more. A vacation is just not the same without your loved ones! And we understand that sometimes those loved ones walk on four feet instead of two. We pride ourselves on SENZA's dog-friendly facilities, and welcome you to bring your best furry friend.
Below, we've compiled a list of some of our favorite nearby wineries, estates and tasting rooms that are eager to welcome human tasters alongside canine companions. Don't get forget this pro-tip: most dog-friendly wineries keep treats behind the bar!
St. Supery, 8440 St Helena Hwy, Rutherford, CA 94573, (707) 963-4507
Known for their Rutherford-grown, single-vineyard bottlings, St. Supery cultivates its fruit in what is widely regarded as the best place to produce Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons. The magic of "Rutherford dust" lends these wines luscious textures and lasting flavors, produced by the winery's own acres in two different estate vineyards. There is an extensive white wine portfolio as well, so no matter what your party's palate, there will be a pour for everyone to enjoy. Tasting options include food pairings, classes with wine educators, and even a special opportunity to blend your own wines! Wine tasters are welcomed with their well-behaved dogs at the winery's gorgeous Rutherford Estate every day from 10 AM – 5 PM, though reservations are preferred.
Feeling guilty about leaving your canine companion in the car, while you and the other humans enjoy the fine wines of Napa Valley wineries? Worry no more, with Frenchie's Winery for Dogs! It might sound too good to be true, but Frenchie's was made with your pet in mind. Each guest enjoys his or her own suite with a wine-barrel bed and a "Frenchie Cam" to let you keep an eye out while you sample the fine wines of Raymond Vineyards inside. Frenchie himself was a gift from Raymond Vineyards proprietor Jean Claude Boisset to his wife, Gina Gallo, and he has since enjoyed the life of a winery dog – a turn of fortune he hopes to share with all creatures great and small. Check out his adventures in the video below, or watch the whole series at Frenchie's website!
HALL Winery 401 St Helena Hwy S, St. Helena, CA 94574, (707) 967-2626
For the cultured canines in your crew, you can't beat HALL wines, renowned not only for their 100-point Cabernet Sauvignons, but for their on-site art collection! While the famous Bunny Foo Foo sculpture might be a bit big for pups to chase, the winery is known for its stewardship of the arts, including an extensive collection (indoor and outdoor) of original artworks. Come for the Portfolio tasting of the winery's lauded Cabernet Sauvignons – reservations aren't required unless you choose a tour or food pairing, but they're probably a good idea for this popular spot!
Pine Ridge, 5901 Silverado Tr, Napa, CA 94558, (800) 575-9777
Nestled along the Silverado Trail, Pine Ridge seems to offer the impossible: a hidden sanctuary of lush green and the dark, meditative cool of wine caves amidst a nearly panoramic view of Napa Valley's Stags Leap district. Known for powerful, elegant wines, the winery also offers an ambiance that can't be matched elsewhere. Leave your canine companions with a designated dog-watcher in the Estate Garden to go inside and explore the caves, where glass artwork seems to blossom from the layered ridges of the rock walls. The wines allow a comprehensive taste of Napa Valley's most famous Cabernet regions, with a bottling from each appellation, as well as two different blends showcasing the best and brightest! Make a reservation to be sure you have a chance to try them all.
Clos du Val, 5330 Silverado Tr, Napa, CA 94558, (707) 261-5212
Clos du Val bears the important legacy of having contributed a successful bottling to the infamous "Judgment of Paris" in 1976. That year, the wine beat out French productions, but a decade later, at the "rematch," Clos du Val's Cabernet Sauvignon took first place! Since then, Clos du Val has lived up to this reputation by producing fine wines from estate vineyards in and around the famous Stags Leap District. You can taste these wines on the estate's gorgeous patio overlooking the vines, so long as your four-legged friends are kept on a leash. (Of course, if you choose to leave the pup with a sitter, elevated experiences are available as well.) While the winery is most famous for its Cabernets, the wide wine portfolio offers something for every palate, from Carneros Pinot Noirs, to a soft Merlot, to a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.
Whatever your party prefers, there's no reason to leave your pups at home! We welcome you and your furry friends to SENZA and all the bounty Napa Valley wine country has to offer!
