At SENZA Hotel, we love welcoming guests to all the spectacular attractions of Napa Valley wine country. Nearby Yountville is one of our favorite destinations, with something for everyone: world-class wine-tasting, great food, and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, like seeing the Valley by bicycle!
Below, you'll find our handy guide for the best eats, sips, and sights in Yountville, the heart of the Napa Valley.
Pastries Worth Waiting For
Bouchon Bakery 6528 Washington St Yountville, CA 94599 (707) 944-2253
Great for treats any time of day--or light sandwiches and salads--Bouchon Bakery is part of Chef Thomas Keller's famous family of restaurants. In addition to the bakery menu, espressos, coffees, and fine teas are also available. If you notice a line out the door, don't worry! It moves quick, and it's well worth a short wait for the pastries, artisanal breads, and cookies.
A Gourmet Garden
French Laundry Garden Washington St (near the French Laundry restaurant, at 6640 Washington St) Yountville, CA 94599
This local source for the Thomas Keller restaurants—including Bouchon Bakery above, as well as the Bouchon Bistro, Ad Hoc (see below), and the world-famous French Laundry—features meticulously kept seasonal vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Stroll through to see the storied bounty of the Napa Valley, captured in this small but fruitful garden.
More than 65 outdoor sculptures are available for viewing throughout Yountville, and you can learn more about them—and where to find them—on this handy map. Though most pieces are for sale, it's free to stroll through town with your haul from the Bouchon Bakery and enjoy them in the gorgeous Napa Valley weather.
Wine Tasting Bingo!
Yountville Wine Walk Yountville Welcome Center 6484 Washington St Yountville, CA 94599 (707) 944-0904
With so many wine tasting opportunities throughout the Napa Valley, sometimes it can be hard for our guests to choose. We love to help match visitors to wineries, but sometimes it's also fun to explore. In nearby Yountville, visitors can pick up free maps and stamp cards for nineteen different tasting rooms, all within a mile of downtown. As you wander and taste, wineries will "stamp" your card for prizes given out in tiers based on how many stamps you've collected. Prizes include discounts and freebies at area boutiques, bakeries, and special experiences. Stamps are good for two years, so when you revisit the area, you can keep collecting.
A Taste of History
Napa Valley Museum 55 Presidents Circle PO Box 3567 Yountville, CA 94599 (707)944-0500
Our local museum is focused on the nature, art, and history of the area, and educates locals and visitors alike through exhibitions, collections, and creative activities. Visit the website before your trip to the Napa Valley to learn what is currently on exhibit, though you can always see the Land and People of Napa Valley, which features changing exhibits from the museum's collection--including antique winemaking equipment.
A Tour-de-NoYo
Bike Tours 6500 Washington St Yountville, CA 94599 (707),251-8687
At the Yountville location for this local business, you can either rent bikes from a wide selection (by the hour or day) and use a map to get around, or opt for a guided tour of Yountville--including North Yountville, or "NoYo"--which includes scenic vineyard biking, stops for wine tastings, and more. Check out their wide selection of both guided and self-guided options, some of which include lunches and even hot air balloon rides!
Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc was begun in an effort to create a casual dining atmosphere where he could share his favorite "comfort foods" instead of the high-end fare associated with the more famous French Laundry. Among the more popular menu items is the house fried chicken, which you can usually get at Sunday Brunch, though for the rest of the week, the menu changes daily--you can sign up to get it in your inbox here. Of course, an extensive wine and cocktail list complements these offerings, and reservations can be made here.
You might wonder how a furniture gallery made the list, but Restoration Hardware Yountville is a unique experience! It's an entire campus, with the retailer's first stand-alone restaurant, "outdoor living rooms" where you can sip wine before strolling home décor galleries, and a wine vault installed in a restored building which is also on the National Registry of Historic Places! Check out the restaurant menu here, and the tasting flights here--reservations are also a good idea.
Luxury and Bubbles
JCB Tasting Salon 6505 Washington St Yountville CA 94599 (707) 934-8237
This unique retail and tasting salon allows guests not only to taste the range of JCB's extensive wine portfolio—sparkling and still—but also offers fashion, jewelry, perfume, home décor, and more. Reserve a group tasting in the "Surrealist Room" to enjoy a guided tasting with a wine educator.
