Great Wineries with Art Galleries in Napa Valley

The SENZA Hotel is deeply invested in providing the best Napa Valley vacation to our guests, in Yountville and beyond. While visitors are well-versed in our fine wines and dining, many don't realize Napa Valley is also an international destination for art. Yountville, and HALL winery, are the heart of the area's thriving art scene. Both SENZA and the winery showcase the Halls' exceptional collection.
But HALL is far from the only winery known for its galleries and changing exhibitions. Below, we've created a Napa Valley wine tasting itinerary for art aficionados and fans alike, with estates that combine the opportunity to sample fine local wines while enjoying fine art.

Markham Vineyards, 2812 St Helena Hwy N, St. Helena, CA 94574, (707) 963-5292

One of two California wineries to make USA Today's international list of the ten best wineries for art lovers, Markham Vineyards offers guests a chance to stroll the Markham Gallery at the Visitor's Center for free. This spring into early summer, catch Robert Buelteman's amazing photographic images of electrified flora, which he captures without a camera! While you're there, don't miss your chance to try the wines, as Markham's portfolio can only be tasted and acquired at the Napa Valley estate. Consider a Heritage Tasting to sample the Altruist Cabernet Sauvignon or some of the winery's more unusual bottlings, like the light, crisp Charbonno.

HALL Winery, 401 St Helena Hwy S, St. Helena, CA 94574, (707) 967-2626

There is no better offering in all of the Napa Valley for art lovers than the HALLmark Tour at HALL winery. The tasting includes a walk around the estate, exploring the winemaking facilities as well as the contemporary art collection installed in and around the winery. With more than 35 original pieces to see, you might forget about the wine - but make sure you don't! The Hall's are not only famous for their support of the arts, but for the perfect score they received for a bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon from famously discerning wine critic Robert Parker.

Mumm Napa, 8445 Silverado Tr, Rutherford, CA 94573, (707) 967-7700

Mumm Napa
Mumm is a perfect spot to celebrate your love for the arts, and what better way to toast aesthetic achievement than with a glass of sparkling wine? Mumm uses the Méthode Traditionnelle to craft wines in the style of the Champagne region in France. You can sip from their selection in the tasting salon or on the winery's peaceful terrace. When you've found your favorite, grab a glass and head for the Fine Art Photography Gallery, where this season's exhibit showcases the work of Ansel Adams.

Turnbull Cellars, 8210 St Helena Hwy, Oakville, CA 94562, (707) 963-5839

Turnbull Cellars
Another great choice for fine photography, Turnbull Cellars offers tastings at their Gallery Bar, where visitors can enjoy both their art collection and the gorgeous views of the estate's gardens. Turnbull's photography exhibit rotates twice a year and features famous artists like Dorothea Lange and Edward Weston. Taste current releases while you enjoy the artwork, like the unusual (and delicious!) rosé of Cabernet Franc, a rare Petit Verdot, and several refined Cabernet Sauvignons. Keep an eye on upcoming events and you might have a chance to help Turnbull celebrate the opening of a new show!

Robert Mondavi Winery, 7801 St Helena Hwy, Oakville, CA 94562, (888) 766-6328

Robert Mondavi Winery
Known for their support of both the visual and performing arts, Robert Mondavi Winery showcases sculpture and paintings throughout the estate's grounds. Schedule an Art Collection Tour to see the permanent collection while you sample two of Mondavi's famous bottlings. After, you can retire to the tasting salon to try a more comprehensive flight of wines, like the lauded Reserve Chardonnay or the classic To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

Jessup Cellars, 6740 Washington St, Yountville, CA 94599, (707) 944-5620

Jessup Cellars
Jessup Cellars is dedicated to bringing fine art to Napa Valley wine country, so much so that they have their own resident artist! Cynthia Carey curates the tasting room's collection of paintings and sculpture with a changing selection of work from artists the world over. You can peruse their current show while sampling the winery's finest bottlings, in a unique tasting flight menu: for flat-rates, customers can choose which wines they would like to sample. There's quite a bit to choose from, too, with featured varietals ranging from Sauvignon Blanc to Pinot Noir to Petite Sirah, and more!

Hess Collection, 4411 Redwood Rd, Napa, CA 94558, (707) 255-1144

Hess Collection
Donald Hess of the Hess Collection has been collecting art since 1966, and he's eager to share what he's found with visitors to the winery! For a curated viewing, try the Museum Walk tour, which includes a complimentary tasting of the winery's accomplished Napa Valley portfolio. But Hess also offers a comprehensive list of other experiences, from food pairings to ATV tours, so art lovers can also tour the museum themselves (for free!) before or after their chosen experience.
At SENZA, we hope our guests enjoy everything Napa Valley has to offer, from fine art to fine wines! We can't wait to welcome you to our boutique hotel on your next wine country vacation.
