Cascading Carson Falls

Can't get enough waterfalls? Then join us on a hike to Marin's spectacular Carson Falls. First, we'll head uphill on Pine Mountain, through scrub and Sargent Cypress with great views of Marin. Then, it's down through green grassland and some bay and buckeye trees as we follow a small creek to its two-stage plunge over a cliff. We'll get a chance to view the falls from above, stop for lunch nearby, and then go down a series of steps to view the falls from below. TOTAL DISTANCEThis is a moderate hike of about four miles roundtrip with several hundred feet in elevation change. LEADERSDavid Schmidt and Serena Enger WEATHER POLICYWe'll go rain or shine. WHERE TO MEETWe'll assemble at the Azalea Hill parking area, off Fairfax-Bolinas Road in Fairfax. NOTESBring water, snacks, and lunch, dress in layers (bring rain gear if it's wet) and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them.
