Hooper & Sloss
Dave Hooper (guitar, harmonica,vocals), and Dan Sloss (bass, guitar, accordion, and vocals), comprise themusical duo of "Hooper and Sloss". Their roots are in Americana music--a blendof folk, country, blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, and 1950s-70s favorites. Theyblend originals with covers, served up with style and humor.
In their present incarnation, theyhave worked together since the fall of 2013, but their partnership goes back tothe mid 1970s when they performed around Sonoma County as the trio, "Hooper,Sloss, and Blackford".
Dave Hooper is an award winningsongwriter who began his musical journey playing in a surf band in SouthernCalifornia, before branching out into folk, blues, bluegrass, and countrymusic. He spent several years in Europe living as an itinerant folk singer;returned to Sonoma County to earn a degree in music and perform locally, beforemoving first to Nashville, and then Austin, where he spent two decades honinghis craft.
Dave has released nine albums onhis own label, the latest being 2019's "Midnight In Paris" CD.
Dan Sloss grew up in theBakersfield area, where he absorbed the rich country music heritage around him.In the 1970s Dan moved north to Mendocino County, and then Santa Rosa, where hehooked up with Dave for several years before venturing on to blues, county, androck bands. In addition to the bass, Dan is proficient on guitar, piano, andaccordion, as well as knowing his way around on the mandolin and ukulele. Dancurrently resides with his wife in San Rafael.
